Karachi: On the occasion of International Literacy Day, NDF Pakistan has emphasized the critical need for inclusive education, highlighting that children with disabilities are still largely excluded from mainstream education.
The absence of such inclusivity continues to be a major barrier to achieving equitable literacy for all. President of NDF Pakistan, Mr. Abid Lashari, praised the efforts of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPD) for their dedication to promoting inclusive education. However, he stressed that much more remains to be done.
“We urgently need a collaborative initiative between the Education and Literacy Department and the DEPD Department to ensure that all children with disabilities, currently out of school, are given the opportunity to learn in an inclusive environment,” Mr. Lashari stated.
NDF Pakistan calls on both governmental and non-governmental and international Organizations, UN entities stakeholders to work together to break the barriers faced by children with disabilities and ensure that every child, regardless of their abilities, has access to quality education
