Livelihood Restoration Program

The Livelihood Restoration Department of NDF focuses on empowering communities in general and people with disabilities with a specific focus through various initiatives aimed at improving their socio-economic status:

  1. Vocational Training and Skill Development
    • Offering tailored vocational training programs that cater to the unique needs and abilities of individuals with disabilities and specific target groups.
    • Partnering with local businesses and industries to provide on-the-job training and internships

2. Entrepreneurship Support

    • Providing entrepreneurship training, business development services, and start-up capital to aspiring entrepreneurs with disabilities.
    • Establishing support networks and mentorship programs to foster business growth and sustainability.

3. Employment Facilitation

    • Collaborating with employers to create inclusive workplaces and promote the hiring of people with disabilities.
    • Running job placement services and career counselling sessions.

4. Microfinance and Financial Inclusion

    • Facilitating access to microfinance services, including loans and savings programs, specifically designed for people with disabilities.
    • Conducting financial literacy programs to empower individuals to manage their finances effectively.

5. Access to Technology

    • Promoting the use of assistive technologies and accessible digital platforms to enhance learning and employment opportunities.
    • Providing training on the use of adaptive technologies and software.

The Government of Sindh, through the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPD) and the Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Youth Development Program (BBSYDP), and the Federal Government, through the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP).

International partners include USAID (SGAFP-BHA), Concern Worldwide, Iltizam Relief Society Malaysia, High Commission of New Zealand, Abilis Foundation Finland, GlobalGiving, Pathfinder International, ADDTF-HelpAge International, DAI, IUCN, Handicap International (HI), UNESCO, Rehabilitation International (RI) Korea, Korea SHE Foundation, Transparency International, and Acumen.
