Deputy Commissioner Shaheed Benazir Abad Visits NDF Rehabilitation Center Nawabshah
Nawabshah: Deputy Commissioner Shaheed Benazir Abad, Mr. Abdul Samad Nizamani, paid a visit to the NDF Rehabilitation Center Nawabshah. During his visit, he inspected the various therapy sections and reviewed the comprehensive services being provided to children with intellectual disabilities.
On the occasion, Mr. Abid Lashari, President of the National Disability & Development Forum (NDF) Pakistan, briefed the Deputy Commissioner about the services rendered by the rehabilitation center, which include life therapies such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, psychotherapy, remedial therapy, and other support services.
Speaking to the media, Deputy Commissioner Abdul Samad Nizamani emphasized that “intellectual disabilities require more focused attention than other disabilities.” He appreciated the efforts of NDF and highlighted that the rehabilitation facility in Nawabshah is a fully equipped center providing free services in collaboration with the DEPD Department, Government of Sindh. He further stated that this initiative is a clear proof of the Sindh Government’s strong commitment to the disability cause and the spirit of implementation of the Sindh Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Act 2018. He assured that the district administration will extend all possible support to the NDF Rehabilitation Center.
Earlier, Haji Abid Lashari, President of NDF, welcomed the Deputy Commissioner and shared that the rehabilitation facility is a “God-gifted blessing for the rural population of Nawabshah.” He said that such comprehensive rehabilitation services are rare in rural Sindh, but through the dedication of the DEPD Department, Government of Sindh, children with intellectual disabilities from rural areas now have free access to quality rehabilitation services at their doorstep. He highly appreciated the commitment of the Sindh Government to the disability cause.
