Karachi: Renowned theatre maker and performer Almitra Mavalvala, along with acclaimed filmmaker Umaima Ahmed, visited the Rehabilitation Center of Pakistan Down Syndrome Association (PDSA) in Gulistan-e-Johar, Karachi.
During their visit, Haji Abid Lashari, CEO of PDSA, briefed the guests about the wide range of free services provided by the center for children with Down syndrome, autism, ADHD, cerebral palsy (CP), and dyslexia with collaboration of DEPD Department of Government of Sindh. These services include therapies, special education, and parental support, aimed at mainstreaming and empowering children with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Impressed by the dedication and impact of the center, Almitra Mavalvala praised the tireless efforts of the PDSA team. She expressed her commitment to the cause and generously offered her support as a performer to help raise awareness through theatre and performing arts.
The visit signifies a growing recognition of disability inclusion among artists and creative professionals, and opens new doors for collaborative advocacy efforts to support children with special needs across Pakistan.
