Nawabshah: In a major step toward promoting inclusivity and accessibility, the National Disability & Development Forum (NDF) Pakistan, in collaboration with the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPD), Government of Sindh, organized a grand ceremony in Nawabshah to distribute customized assistive devices to persons with disabilities (PWDs).
The event marked a significant milestone in restoring mobility and independence for over 200 individuals, who were provided with essential equipment tailored to their needs, including wheelchairs, tricycles, motorized tricycles, walkers, and crutches.




Dignitaries and Chief Guests
The ceremony was graced by prominent administrative figures, including the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Shaheed Benazirabad, Abdul Samad Nizamani, and the Regional Director of DEPD, Nisar Ahmed Brohi, who attended as the chief guests. Speaking at the event, the officials lauded the joint efforts of NDF and the Sindh Government in actively addressing the challenges faced by the disability community.
A Vision for Dignity and Independence
Addressing the gathering, NDF President Mr. Abid Lashari (Tamgha-e-Imtiaz) emphasized that assistive technology is not just a charity but a fundamental right that enables PWDs to lead active, dignified, and independent lives.
“These devices are bridging the gap between isolation and inclusion. By empowering individuals with mobility, we are opening doors to education, employment, and social integration,” said Mr. Lashari.
Strong Institutional Support
The event also highlighted strong institutional backing, reflecting a multi-sectoral commitment to disability rights. High-ranking regional heads and representatives from key public sectors attended the ceremony, including:
- NADRA
- Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal
- The Election Commission of Pakistan
- Health Departments
The presence of these institutions underscores a collaborative approach to ensuring that persons with disabilities receive streamlined access to identity documentation, financial assistance, voting rights, and healthcare facilities.
The ceremony concluded with the distribution of the devices, bringing smiles and a renewed sense of hope to the beneficiaries and their families.
