Serious Action Needed Against Polio Vaccination Denials in Sindh

Nawabshah: The National Disability & Development Forum (NDF) Pakistan urges all stakeholders to take serious action against polio vaccination refusals in Sindh. Despite repeated vaccination campaigns, cases of polio persist, largely due to misinformation and vaccine hesitancy.

Abid Lashari, President of NDF Pakistan, emphasized the urgent need for coordinated efforts to ensure 100% vaccination coverage. “Polio remains a threat to our children’s future. Every missed child is a risk not only to themselves but to the entire community.

Denials must be addressed with serious intervention, including awareness campaigns, engagement with community leaders, and strict monitoring,” he stated.

He further highlighted the tireless efforts of frontline health workers who risk their lives to eradicate polio. “These workers are our heroes. The government and civil society must support them in ensuring that no child is left unvaccinated.”

NDF Pakistan calls on the Sindh government, health authorities, and community leaders to strengthen advocacy efforts, counter vaccine myths, and take legal action where necessary to overcome refusals. Ending polio requires commitment from all sectors, and together, we can achieve a polio-free Sindh.
